I purchased this earlier today for single pane glass door. Can you confirm this film is suitable for this application?

It is a dark film, so it can absorb more heat than lighter ones. It would get trapped inside the double panes. If the glass pane is tempered, you should be fine. As a reminder our warranties are for the film, and do not cover the glass for any reason.
