if this film can be applied to either side of the glass, which side provides the view and which side provides the privacy?

This film is intended to be installed on the exterior of the glass. It will have the white side on the outside, which is harder to see through than the black glue side. You can of course switch it around if you are trying to achieve the opposite result.
